About the “Fish and Lift” technique

This technique allows us to place a rope, cable, or other lifting apparatus at heights that would be extremely unsafe to reach with a ladder. The technique consists of a few, simple steps:

  1. We connect an 80 pound test fishing line with a weight attached to it to our Mavic 4’s drop/release mechanism

  2. We execute a controlled flight over the anchor point, draping the fishing line over it

  3. We then fly away from the anchor point in a safe direction to a distance equal to or slightly more than the lift height

  4. We release the line remotely. The weight carries the line down to the ground.

  5. If something heavier than the fishing line needs to be lifted, a paracord or other heavier duty line can be attached and pulled up to replace the fishing line

IMPORTANT NOTES: This technique is only suitable for certain applications! The deposit for this service is fully refundable if we determine we cannot use this technique. Because of the equipment and precise flying required to perform this service, it cannot be scheduled during times when wind speeds are over 8mph sustained and/or 12mph gusting. This service also requires that a trained spotter accompany our pilot, so there may be availability constraints at times. Please book as far in advance as you can to ensure we can get the job done for you!
